Does OnePointHealth accept DVA?

Yes, across podiatry, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, dietetics and psychology. You will need a referral from your GP. We bill the Department of Veterans’ Affairs directly, so nothing is invoiced to you. Appointments are available at seven centres, with home visits and telehealth.

What does my card cover?

Which card you hold decides what is covered.

Gold Card.

All clinically necessary health care, whether or not it relates to your service. If we treat it and your GP refers you, it is covered.

White Card.

Treatment for your accepted conditions. If your shoulder is accepted, treatment for that shoulder is covered.

If you are not sure which card you hold or what it covers, call us. It is a common question and not something you need to work out first.

Am I eligible?

If you are not sure which card you hold, what it covers, or whether your referral is still current, call us on 1300 123 674. We can check most of it with you over the phone, and you do not need to sort it out before you get in touch.

You can usually use your card at OnePointHealth if:

  • You hold a DVA Gold Card, or a White Card covering the condition you need treated.

  • Your GP has referred you for allied health.

  • Your referral is current. Referrals run in cycles and are renewed by your GP.

How DVA allied health works

There are four stages, and the last one matters most. DVA referrals run in cycles rather than continuing indefinitely.

See your GP.

DVA allied health needs a referral. Your GP writes it and it covers a set number of sessions or a set period.

Book with us.

Bring your card and your referral to your first appointment.

We bill DVA directly.

Nothing is invoiced to you.

Your GP reviews at the end of the cycle.

We tell you when you are approaching your last session so you can arrange a new referral before treatment stops.

What to bring to your first appointment

You do not need all of this to call us. If your referral is not in front of you, we can often confirm it with your GP practice directly.

Your DVA card.Gold or White. It sets what is covered.
Your referral from your GP.This is required for allied health under DVA.
The name of your referring GP.We report back to them, which is part of how the scheme works.
Any recent scans or test results.Only if you have them. Not a reason to delay booking.

What will this cost me?

Treatment is billed directly to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs at DVA rates. You will not be invoiced, and there is no gap for you to cover.

Whether DVA will cover your treatment depends on your card type and the referral your GP has written, not on the condition itself. Your GP and DVA decide that.

Connected care

Your card usually covers more than one service, and they work better planned together.

One team, one picture.

A veteran seeing a podiatrist, a physiotherapist and an exercise physiologist here is seeing one team working from the same information, not three providers who never speak.

We come to you where travel is hard.

Home visits are available for some services across the Penrith area, the Blue Mountains, the North Shore and the Northern Beaches.

Where you can be seen

DVA appointments are available at all seven of our centres, though not every service runs at every centre. Home visits and telehealth are available for some services.

Podiatry.

All seven centres, plus home visits.

Physiotherapy.

Penrith, Blaxland, Katoomba and Ryde.

Exercise physiology.

Penrith, Blaxland and Ryde.

Dietetics.
