What does a psychologist do?
A psychologist is a university-qualified, AHPRA-registered health professional who helps you understand and work through what you are experiencing, using evidence-based talking therapies. They support children, teenagers and adults with anxiety, depression, stress, grief, trauma and the challenges of living with a chronic condition. You do not need to be in crisis to see a psychologist; many people come simply because something feels harder than it should.

Ongoing support and review.
You work through things at your pace, and check in on how the support is helping along the way.
One Team Behind Your Care
Behind every appointment is a team of practitioners who know each other, trust each other and work together for you. Across seven clinics and nine disciplines, our team shares expertise, coordinates treatment plans and celebrates your progress together.
Connected care
Connected care means your psychologist is part of one team, working from the same plan, while your sessions stay private. Here is what that looks like for you.
We start with what matters to you.
Not a label. What you would like to feel and be able to do: steadier days, less worry, or coping better with something difficult. That goal shapes your support, at a pace led by you.
When it supports your care, and only with your consent, your psychologist may coordinate with others.
That might mean your GP, or another member of the team such as a dietitian or exercise physiologist where it helps. Nothing is shared without your agreement.
What you share stays confidential.
What you talk about in your sessions is private. We’ll only share information beyond your treating team, such as with your GP, with your consent, except in the rare situations where we are required to by law. You stay in control of who sees what.
Our funding pathways
Psychology can be accessed privately or through several funding pathways. For current private fees, contact your nearest centre.
Taking the first step is enough
Book a psychologist at OnePointHealth, and our team will take it from there, at your pace.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?
No, you can book directly. For Medicare-rebated sessions you will need a GP Mental Health Care Plan; DVA and WorkCover also require a referral.
What is a Mental Health Care Plan, and how does it cover psychology?
It is a plan your GP can prepare that gives you access to a number of Medicare-rebated psychology sessions each calendar year. We can explain how it works when you book.
Do your psychologists see children and teenagers?
Yes. Our psychologists support children, teenagers and adults, including eligible children through NDIS.
Is what I say kept private in my psychology appointment?
Yes. Your sessions are confidential. Information is only shared outside your treating team with your consent, except in the rare situations where we are required to by law.
What happens in a first psychology session?
Your psychologist takes time to understand what you would like support with. There is no pressure to share more than you are ready to.
Can I use NDIS or WorkCover for psychology?
Yes. We accept NDIS plans and WorkCover referrals for psychology and manage the paperwork.
Do I need to be in crisis to see a psychologist?
No. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from talking to a psychologist.
Do you provide emergency or crisis support?
