Can I see a physio on my DVA card?

Yes, with a referral from your GP. Gold card holders are covered for physiotherapy generally. White card holders are covered where it relates to an accepted condition. We bill DVA directly, so nothing is invoiced to you. Physiotherapy is available at Penrith, Blaxland, Katoomba and Ryde.

What does my card cover for physiotherapy?

Which card you hold decides the answer.

A Gold Card covers all clinically necessary health care, whether or not the problem relates to your service. If your GP refers you for physiotherapy, it is covered.

A White Card covers treatment for your accepted conditions. If your knee is an accepted condition, physiotherapy for that knee is covered. Physiotherapy for something unrelated is not, though you can still see us privately or through Medicare.

Whichever card you hold, treatment runs in referral cycles rather than continuing indefinitely. Your GP reviews at the end of each cycle and decides whether to issue another.

Am I eligible?

If you are not sure which card you hold, what it covers, or whether your referral is still current, call us on 1300 123 674. We can check most of it with you over the phone, and you do not need to sort it out before you get in touch.

How DVA physiotherapy works

See your GP.

DVA allied health needs a referral. Your GP writes it and it covers a set number of sessions or a set period.

Book with us.

Bring your card and your referral to your first appointment.

We bill DVA directly.

Nothing is invoiced to you.

Your GP reviews at the end of the cycle.

We tell you when you are approaching your last session so you can arrange a new referral before treatment stops.

What our physiotherapists help with

Whether DVA will cover your treatment depends on your card type and the referral your GP has written, not on the condition itself. Your GP and DVA decide that.

Connected care

One referral rarely covers everything, and your card often covers more than one service.

Your physiotherapist and your podiatrist can work from the same picture.

How you walk and how you move are the same problem viewed from two ends, and both are covered by your card.

Exercise physiology picks up where physiotherapy leaves off.

Where your GP refers you for both, we plan them together rather than handing you over.
