Can I see a podiatrist on my DVA card?

Yes, with a referral from your GP. Gold card holders are covered for podiatry generally. White card holders are covered where it relates to an accepted condition. We bill DVA directly, so nothing is invoiced to you. Podiatry is available at all seven centres and as a home visit.

What foot care does DVA cover?

Feet take a fair amount of punishment over a career, and a lot of what we see reflects that. Long-standing foot and ankle problems, arthritis, nail and skin changes that come with age and circulation, and the ongoing care that keeps someone walking comfortably.

A Gold Card covers all clinically necessary podiatry, whether or not the problem relates to your service.

A White Card covers podiatry where it relates to an accepted condition.

Regular foot care under DVA is common and entirely legitimate. If reaching your feet has become difficult, or if a small problem is hard to notice, that is a good reason to be seen rather than a minor one.

Am I eligible?

If you are not sure which card you hold, what it covers, or whether your referral is still current, call us on 1300 123 674. We can check most of it with you over the phone, and you do not need to sort it out before you get in touch.

How DVA podiatry works

See your GP.

DVA allied health needs a referral. Your GP writes it and it covers a set number of sessions or a set period.

Book with us.

Bring your card and your referral to your first appointment.

We bill DVA directly.

Nothing is invoiced to you.

Your GP reviews at the end of the cycle.

We tell you when you are approaching your last session so you can arrange a new referral before treatment stops.

What our podiatrists help with

Whether DVA will cover your treatment depends on your card type and the referral your GP has written, not on the condition itself. Your GP and DVA decide that.

Connected care

Feet rarely sit apart from the rest of it, and your card often covers more than one service.

Footwear and orthotics on site.

Penrith has a footwear store and an orthotics lab, so assessment, fitting and adjustment happen in one place rather than across three appointments and two trips. Springwood and Ryde have footwear stores on site.

Your podiatrist and your physiotherapist can work from the same picture.

How you walk affects your knees, hips and back, and both services are covered by your card.

Where you can be seen

DVA podiatry is available at all seven of our centres: Penrith, Ropes Crossing, Blaxland, Springwood, Katoomba, Ryde and Lindfield. Home visits are available across the Penrith area, the Blue Mountains, the North Shore and the Northern Beaches.

Home visits:

if getting out has become difficult, we can come to you. Arranged by phone or enquiry rather than online.
