Can I use my NDIS plan for physiotherapy?

Yes, where physiotherapy relates to your disability and the goals in your plan. No GP referral is needed. We invoice your plan manager or the NDIA directly, so most participants are never invoiced. Physiotherapy is available at Penrith, Blaxland, Katoomba and Ryde.

What physiotherapy can the NDIS fund?

The NDIS funds supports that relate to your disability. For physiotherapy that usually means working on movement, strength, function and independence rather than treating a short-term injury.

In practice that covers things like maintaining or improving mobility, managing spasticity or contracture, building the strength to transfer safely, working on balance to reduce falls, and helping you use equipment or an aid effectively.

What it does not fund is general health care that the health system covers. A rolled ankle is a Medicare or private appointment, not an NDIS one, even for a participant.

The line between the two is drawn by the goals in your plan rather than by us. Two participants with similar conditions can have different funding, because their plans are different. If you are unsure, tell us what you are hoping to work on and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.

Am I eligible?

You do not need to work out which budget your funding sits in before you call. Tell us what you are after and how your plan is managed, and we will check whether it fits. If it does not, we will tell you rather than book you in and sort it out later.

You can usually access physiotherapy through the NDIS if:

How NDIS physiotherapy works

Send us an enquiry.

Tell us what you are after, your NDIS number and how your plan is managed. No GP referral is needed.

We check the fit.

We confirm that the support matches your plan goals and that the funding is available.

We set up a service agreement.

This sets out what we will provide, what it costs and how cancellations work, so there are no surprises.

We invoice your plan manager or the NDIA directly.

If you are self-managed, we invoice you and you claim it back.

What our physiotherapists help with

Whether the NDIS will fund your physiotherapy depends on the goals in your plan, not on the condition itself. Your plan and the NDIA decide that.

Connected care

Most participants are working on more than one thing at once, and their plan often funds more than one of us.

Your physiotherapist and your exercise physiologist can work from the same plan.

Physiotherapy addresses movement and function, exercise physiology builds capacity and endurance. Where your plan funds both, we plan them together rather than running two separate programs.

We work with the people already in your corner.

With your consent, your physiotherapist can coordinate with your support coordinator, your GP or another provider you are already seeing.
