Can I use my NDIS plan for psychology?

Yes, where psychology relates to your disability and the goals in your plan. No GP referral is needed. We invoice your plan manager or the NDIA directly. Psychology is available at our Penrith centre and by telehealth, and appointments are arranged through our intake process rather than booked online.

What psychology can the NDIS fund?

The NDIS funds psychology where it relates to your disability and to building capacity, rather than as general mental health treatment.

In practice that often means working on emotional regulation, managing anxiety that limits what you can do, developing social and communication skills, adjusting to a diagnosis or a change in circumstances, and building the strategies that make daily life more manageable.

General mental health treatment is usually a Medicare pathway rather than an NDIS one. If your GP has prepared a Mental Health Treatment Plan, that is a different route with its own rebate. Some participants use both, for different things.

The line is drawn by the goals in your plan. If you are unsure which pathway fits, tell us what you are hoping to work on and we will talk it through.

Am I eligible?

You do not need to work out which budget your funding sits in before you call. Tell us what you are after and how your plan is managed, and we will check whether it fits. If it does not, we will tell you rather than book you in and sort it out later.

You can usually access psychology through the NDIS if:

How NDIS psychology works

Send us an enquiry.

Tell us what you are after, your NDIS number and how your plan is managed. No GP referral is needed.

We check the fit.

We confirm that the support matches your plan goals and that the funding is available.

We set up a service agreement.

This sets out what we will provide, what it costs and how cancellations work, so there are no surprises.

We invoice your plan manager or the NDIA directly.

If you are self-managed, we invoice you and you claim it back.

What our psychologists help with

Whether the NDIS will fund your sessions depends on the goals in your plan, not on the condition itself. Your plan and the NDIA decide that.

Connected care

Your mental health is not separate from the rest of your health, and your plan often funds more than one support.

We work with the people already in your corner.

With your consent, your psychologist can coordinate with your support coordinator, your GP or another provider you already see.

Only what is needed, and only with your consent.

Nothing is shared beyond your treating team without your agreement.

Frequently asked questions

No. The NDIS does not require one. If you also have a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, mention it, because some people use both pathways for different things.

NDIS funds psychology that relates to your disability and to building capacity. Medicare funds treatment for a diagnosed mental health condition under a plan from your GP. Some participants use both.

Not for psychology. Every psychology appointment, including follow-ups, goes through our enquiry and intake process so the right practitioner is matched to you.

Yes. We are a registered NDIS provider, so participants with NDIA-managed plans can use us.

Yes, at all three centres.

Wait times vary by centre and practitioner. Send us an enquiry and we will tell you the current position rather than quote an average that may not apply to you.
